* Hurricane Carmen (1974), strongest storm of the 1974 Atlantic hurricane season; hit the Yucatán Peninsula, then crossed the Gulf of Mexico and made a second landfall in southern Louisiana; killed 8 people and caused at least $162 million (USD) in damage

* Typhoon Carmen (1957) (11W), made landfall in southern China
